Serving Communities Internship Program (SCiP)
The Serving Communities Internship Program (SCiP) brings Alberta’s nonprofit organizations and post-secondary students together to make a difference in their communities. SCiP internships are meaningful, skill-based opportunities providing mutual benefit to both nonprofit organizations and post-secondary students:
Nonprofit organizations gain added talent and human capacity so that they can better achieve their missions.
Post-secondary students gain skills, experience, and networks, along with a $1000 bursary, so that they can better achieve their missions.
You must be a post-secondary student living in Alberta.
You must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or an international student with appropriate authorization as may be required from Citizenship and Immigration Canada to participate in SCiP. You must be currently enrolled at one of the 26 publicly-funded post-secondary institutions in Alberta.
You must be a part time or full time certificate, diploma, undergraduate, graduate, or PhD student at an eligible. Non-credit, upgrading, or continuing education students do not qualify.
You must be registered in and attending at least one class at an institution during the academic year in which you begin your internship (August 1st – July 31st) and you must be able to provide proof of enrollment indicating this. Please note, an acceptance letter, either conditional or full, either conditional or full, from a post-secondary institution does not qualify you for the program until you have begun attending at least one class.
You are only able to receive one SCiP bursary per academic year (August 1st – July 31st).
You may not receive compensation other than the SCiP bursary for a SCiP internship. This includes a wage or honorarium.
