Our next call for Fellowship applications will take place in September 2018, to select the working artists who will join CHF’s 2019-2020 Accelerator class.
The Clark Hulings Fund offers direct financial assistance and business support to professional visual artists to boost their careers, and help them become as skilled at managing their businesses as they are at creating their artwork. In addition to sharing business tools and knowledge, and building a community for visual artists, we award two Business Accelerator Grants per year; these grants are designed to help artists cover the costs of activities or services related to specific projects that have the potential to drive their careers forward, and grow their art businesses exponentially.
The fund invites professional visual artists to apply for grants of up to $5,000 each, to support the business side of their artistic enterprises. Each year, we award a total of $10,000 in substantive grants to compelling projects selected from a pool of ten finalists. In addition, all finalists receive business and promotional support. Artwork submitted by applicants may be featured in the Clark Hulings Fund’s online catalogue.
Applicants must detail exactly how the money would help them undertake, improve, or expand a specific project. Examples of activities covered include mounting, casting, creating marketing materials, and transporting work to an exhibition.
Applications are accepted each September, and entries are judged by a review panel (which changes annually), composed of visual artists from a wide array of backgrounds. Ten finalists and grant recipients are announced each November. (Our 2015 recipients and finalists were announced on November 14th in Denver, at an event for which the video below was created.)
