The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie has a new executive director in Jeff Erbach, former manager of Community and Cultural Development for the City of Regina.
The board of directors of the Prairie Gallery Society made the announcement last week, citing Erbach’s previous experience in curation, community outreach and arts administration both regionally and nationally.
“Jeff’s experience in arts management, knowledge of a diverse range of artistic practices, and community centered cultural development, is a valuable asset,” board chair Kendra Davis said in a press release. The former director, Aaron Griffith Baker, left the gallery last summer, though it has never been made clear why. He had stepped into the role in September 2014.
Erbach said in an interview that the gallery will be seeking input from the community.
“I think one of the key things for us is going to be that the community is always at the centre of everything we do,” he said.
The public will be brought into an upcoming “strategic planning process” to shape a vision for the gallery, Erbach said.
