Deadline: September 30, 2017
Duration: 10 weeks
Cost: USD $1300

Eligibility: Applications are open to all ceramicists and visual artists from across the world. We are looking for emerging or midcareer artists who will benefit from the explorative possibilities of working with Cotto’s staff, dialogue and bonding between residents and Cotto’s community of artists, and access to Cotto’s professional ceramic studio. Successful applicants will be chosen based on the quality of their past work, investigative merits of their proposed project and viability of their participation.

Cotto’s Studio Residency Program provides a unique opportunity for artists to research and produce new ceramic projects under the guidance of the Cotto Studio advisors/directors, expand their practice by exploring local materials, and develop new professional networks. The paid program covers a fully-equipped shared pottery studio, production materials including clays, glazes and oxides, kiln firings, feedback and assistance from our team of specialized ceramicists.

Cotto was founded in 2006, focusing on the production of designed homeware pieces, working with many of Lima’s leading restaurants. By 2013 the studio had begun to introduce aspects of training, advice and research around ceramic techniques and materials. Since then, Cotto has collaborated in the production, research and realization of art works for local and international exhibitions.

Located in the Barranco district, artists are given the opportunity to experience one of Lima’s most vibrant neighborhoods with easy access to accommodation, art galleries, theaters, transportation, supermarkets and inexpensive restaurants.

Successful artists must be available for travel to Lima, for their ten-week residency period. Cotto offers four residency periods within 2018:

1. Monday 15th January 2018 – Sunday 25th March 2018
2. Monday 9th April 2018 – Sunday 17th June 2018
3. Monday 9th July 2018 – Sunday 16th September 2018
4. Monday 1st October 2018 – Sunday 9th December 2018

Dates are non-negotiable. Three artists are invited for each residency period.
