Artist-in-Residence Program at Weir Farm National Historic Site

The Weir Farm Art Center, a private, nonprofit organization that works in partnership with the National Park Service at Weir Farm National Historic Site. The Art Center’s mission is to promote public awareness of the Farm’s history and artistic tradition, and through its programs, facilitate contemporary artistic work on the site, fulfill educational goals, and preserve the Farm’s unique environment.

Visual artists of all media and styles can apply to spend up to one month on the grounds of Weir Farm National Historic Site, former summer home of Julian Alden Weir, American Impressionist painter. Artists live in private historical farmhouse and work in new state of the art private studio amid fields, forests and stone walls.

Host pays for lodging, utilities & studio space. Artists pay for transportation, transport of art, supplies & food. Spouses & significant others welcome to visit, but cannot stay the duration.

Studio information:

Renewed in 2010, fully heated, high ceilings.

Accommodation information:

  • Accommodation is located in a small historical farmhouse and is fully furnished. Utilities, linens and household supplies provided.
  • Solitary residency. Children and pets are not allowed. Partners may visit, but are not expected to stay for duration of residency unless part of a formal collaborative team.
