March 16 – April 21, 2018

Jarvis Hall Gallery is pleased to present DIFFICULT TERRAIN, a solo exhibition by Patrick Dunford. We hope you will join us next Friday, March 16th between 5-8 PM for the opening reception.Patrick Dunford was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and completed his MFA at Concordia University in Montreal in 2012. He currently lives in San Diego, California.

Difficult Terrain focuses on the clearcuts of British Columbia where Dunford treeplants during the summer, as well as the deserts of Southern California where he resides the rest of the calendar year.  Both destinations present prime examples of human activity encroaching on the natural environment and the resources extracted for processing.  The physicality of such difficult terrain is ever present in his rich surfaces built up and broken down, through constant mark making, scraping and layering of thick paint.
