Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) is a comprehensive community institution, established in 1966 in Grande Prairie, and our stewardship region includes campuses in Fairview and Grande Prairie, as well as learning centres in Edson, Grande Cache, Hinton and Jasper. GPRC offers a wide variety of credit and non-credit career certificates and diplomas, pre-employment and apprenticeship trades, university transfer studies, and several opportunities for on-campus degree completion through collaborations with four-year universities. As an educational facility in northwestern Alberta, GPRC helps meet the cultural, recreational, athletic and conferencing needs of the region in partnership with community and regional stakeholders. The Role

The Department of Fine Arts invites applications for a position in Visual Arts. This Full-Time sessional position will commence August 15, 2018 – April 30, 2019. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate level courses, advise students, participate in critique sessions, mentor students, serve on department and college committees, and actively contribute to and participate in the Fine Arts Department vibrant co-curricular programming.

The successful candidate will teach the following core courses:

AR 1360 Visual Fundamentals 1
AR1370 Visual Fundamentals 2
AR 2410 Drawing 1
AR 2430 Drawing 2
AR3630 Sculpture Fall/Winter

Job Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master of Fine Arts or equivalent degree within the specialization of sculpture and digital photography, must be a working artist with a significant exhibition record, college-level teaching experience and must demonstrate the ability to continue an ongoing, excellent, and dynamic art practice. We seek an applicant with a broad knowledge of contemporary art, the ability to address works across disciplines, and strong leadership skills. The appointee will be expected to continue creative and professional activities while teaching. A fully engaged presence on campus is required as well as a willingness to participate in collectively shaping the future of the Fine Arts Department.
