One on One Gallery invites artists and designers to apply for a solo exhibition of their work in any media, to be accompanied with a visiting artist talk and studio/class visits. The proposed exhibitions are scheduled for the fall semester from November 9 to November 29, 2018, with the reception held on November 22, 2018, and the winter semester from March 1 to March 27, 2019, with the reception held on March 21, 2019. Proposals should consider the size and dimensions of the gallery space. Go to http://www.mhc.ab.ca/OneonOneGallery to view the gallery floor plan. At this point we do not accept group exhibition proposals.
One on One Gallery is an integral part of the Visual Communications Program at Medicine Hat College. Our Bachelor of Applied Arts (Visual Communications) degree program is one of a kind, in that we offer a blend of both fine arts and design. We use our One on One gallery as a teaching tool to enhance our student’s education by inviting professional artists and designers to showcase their work and bring contemporary and exciting ideas to our community. The gallery has over 2400 running feet of wall space, a state of the art lighting system, tall ceilings, and hardwood floors. It’s a very professional, clean, and exciting space.
An artist fee of $3000.00 will be awarded to the selected candidate. All travel, shipping costs and arrangements (delivery both ways) are to be covered by the selected candidate.
The artist must be in attendance for the reception where they will give an artist talk. They are also required to fulfill studio visits either the day before or after the reception date. These stipulations will be based on a contractual agreement and must be fulfilled before the artist fee is awarded.
Before the end of the day of Friday, July 27, 2018 local time. You will receive an acknowledgement of your submission shortly thereafter. Final notification will be made in early September.
Your exhibition proposal should consist of 2 separate documents:
- a single PDF document which contains the following information:
- Exhibition Proposal
- Artist’s Statement
- Curriculum Vitae
- Contact Information
- Image List (title, medium, date, and size)
- a single PDF document which contains 15 digital images of proposed or recent work
- OR video or audio work in Mac-compatible formats
The entire exhibition proposal is to be sent only by email to VisitingArtist@mhc.ab.ca.
Please make sure the size of all attachments does not exceed 15MB.
If you require more space for larger files, time-based or intermedia work, please provide a link via DropBox or Vimeo. Your DropBox submission should follow the above proposal requirements and consist only of the 2 documents (a & b) as described above.
We will not accept submissions by mail.
