Each year since 1994, Scotia Waterous, formerly Waterous & Co., has produced a book of photography focusing on the work of a photographer from a specific geographical region. The initial book focused on the Canadian Rockies. Every book thereafter expanded the scope of the photographic book series to feature other areas of Canada and international photography.
The photographic book series has provided important support to the careers of serious photographers from around the world. It has stimulated the careers of many accomplished photographers and introduced their photography to a broader audience. These finely crafted books, exquisitely printed and elegantly designed, are now collectors’ items and a photographic legacy. They are works of art in themselves and reside in prestigious collections around the world.
The year 2013 marks Scotia Waterous’ 20th consecutive year of commitment and unwavering support to the photographic arts. This year’s book will feature a collection of photographs from the past 19 books; each book’s featured photographer will be represented by two images from their respective books. The exhibition, “The Photographers of Scotia Waterous” will include each of the photographer’s two photographs as well as two recent works. It will showcase the diversity of each photographer’s vision and sensibilities and provide the viewer with the unique opportunity to indulge in visuals from multiple global perspectives.
