Edmonton Arts Council, Community Arts Program Grants
Community Arts Program
Application Deadline: May 1st annually
Community art is valued for its ability to bring people together in shared, collaborative, creative experiences to express the things that have meaning to us: where we’ve come from, where we’re going, our world, our fears, our dreams, our aspirations. It strengthens the community, develops creativity and increases awareness of the arts in our lives.
The principles behind community art projects are artistic exploration, active participation and intentional inclusiveness that allows communities to tell their own stories.
The Community Arts grant program invests in the quality of life in our city by providing funding for projects that are described as collaborations between professional artists and a distinct community. A community may be defined by a multitude of factors, including but not limited to, ethnicity, living conditions, geographic location, age, beliefs, traditions, social or economic strata.
